Following several years of heavy reliance on donor funding for family planning commodities, the financial year 2019/20 saw important progress towards increased national ownership of family planning (FP) financing in Kenya.

This brief presents an overview of the country’s FP financing landscape since the devolution of the health sector and describes the process of increasing government investment in FP as a result of matched funding agreements by a number of donors and governments.
