Statement

Options' Climate Commitment

Options is committed to reducing our carbon footprint and achieving net zero emissions by 2050, in line with the UK government’s net zero target.

3 March 2023

Our carbon reduction plan 2023 identifies our current carbon footprint and outlines the commitments we have made to help achieve this emissions target.

The report complies with the UK government’s policy requirements for suppliers bidding for major contracts.

We will monitor our progress and update this report every year.

Climate action at Options

As a global health business that drives transformational improvements in the health and wellbeing of the most vulnerable populations, ensuring women, adolescents and children can access high-quality health services they need, we recognise that environmental sustainability is an increasingly critical component of a strong health system and a key determinant of health.

In addition to our carbon reduction plan which limits the environmental impact of our business, we are also working to support environmental sustainability and climate resilience within health systems as part of our service offering, leveraging Options’ unique position at the climate change and global health nexus. It is with this in mind that we created our climate commitment.

Options is committed to promoting and embedding environmentally sustainable operational practices throughout the organisation – meeting our compliance obligations and inspiring staff, partners and suppliers towards more sustainable practices. Options’ aim is to protect environmental ecosystems and benefit communities worldwide, building a better working environment for staff whilst extending our reach by promoting sustainability beyond the boundaries of the business. Options’ ambition is to become a net positive contributor to the environment.

In line with the Climate Change Act 2008 and the UK Government’s Net Zero target for carbon emissions, Options is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, growing a global culture of environmental responsibility.

We will do this by reducing our carbon footprint, reducing waste in our operations, strengthening knowledge on best practice across our networks, and taking action in our work.
