Options is an international development consultancy organisation working in the health sector to transform the health of women and girls in developing countries. We work in partnership with governments, health workers, civil society and businesses to bring together knowledge, expertise and influence to ensure everyone has access to the health care they need.
Our work focuses on three key goals:
- To build strong, sustainable systems that improve healthcare for all;
- To empower communities to demand access to high quality healthcare;
- To be a catalyst, driving social change.
We have 25 years’ experience of identifying and shaping complex programmes in the health and social sector – from safe motherhood programmes in Nepal to the MamaYe! and The Girl Generation campaigns across sub-Saharan Africa. We coordinate consortia, develop and manage frameworks to monitor and evaluate progress, and capture and share evidence of successful approaches. We know what works and bring both technical expertise and innovation to every programme we work on.
Our approach is flexible, responsive and tailored to the local context. Our focus is always on building local skills and systems that last. We use data to drive improvements in the quality of services being delivered, and enable communities to use this information to demand the services they are entitled to.
Our work is driven by the belief that everyone should have access to good quality, affordable health care. And while our core expertise and passion is in women and children’s health, our impact reaches far beyond this to making sustainable improvements in health systems in every country where we work.
Options is dedicated to using evidence based solutions to improve global health outcomes.
We believe in:
Results – we combine efficient programme management with high-quality technical expertise to achieve excellence in our programme delivery.
Building partnerships – we generate sustainable solutions to local and global health problems by collaborating with stakeholders at all levels of the health system.
Accountability – our staff, consultants and programme teams strive for integrity, accountability and transparency in all their work.
Flexibility – we understand the need to respond to rapidly changing environments. We bring a practical approach and knowledge of what works. We use the latest evidence to continually learn and adapt our approaches.
Investing in the future – we empower communities to demand better health services and bring about long-term change.
