Technical assistance to the reproductive health programme, Turkey

Strengthening CSOs to implement advocacy and behaviour change activities to improve neonatal health, family planning, safe abortion, STIs and HIV/AIDS

Partners

The EC-funded programme aimed to improve the sexual and reproductive health status of the Turkish population – especially women – by increasing the availability and utilisation of sexual and reproductive health services. It also aimed to strengthen the policy environment to better support sexual and reproductive health rights and choices. The programme provided support to the Ministry of Health in implementing the National Strategy for Women’s Health and Family Planning. Options supported strengthening civil society organisations (CSOs) to implement advocacy and behaviour change activities via a €20million grant scheme. We disbursed grants in order to support activities focusing on improvements in neonatal health, family planning, safe abortion, and sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS, and also to build capacity of civil society organisations through sustainability initiatives. We also provided technical assistance to improve the effectiveness of the government and civil society response to improving the sexual and reproductive health status of the Turkish population.
