Alison Dembo Rath
Team Leader, NHSSP
Alison has over 20 years’ experience in design, management, monitoring and evaluation of health systems development programmes at policy and implementation levels. Building on her early career in UK nursing, Alison has particular expertise in delivering quality maternal and newborn health services. Alison has experience across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia, managing UK Aid-funded maternal health and health sector programmes in India and Nepal.

Amina is a public health expert with over 25 years’ experience working in complex, low-resource settings in the government and non-governmental sectors providing leadership and technical support to ensure the delivery of quality health and development services. She is focused on building a solid platform for er team and their various programmes, to meaningfully contribute to the development and strengthening of Nigeria’s health system.

Angela is passionate about improving health for all, especially vulnerable communities, by strengthening sustainable systems and increasing demand for/access to quality sexual and reproductive health services. She provides strategic leadership and technical oversight through fostering and coordinating strong local partnerships. Angela has over 18 years’ experience working in ministries of health and NGOs in Kenya and East Africa.
Bethany Brady
Director of Programmes
Bethany provides strategic leadership by ensuring high-quality delivery across broad thematic areas and leveraging strategic partnerships to enhance social return on investments, all with the aim of overcoming complex global challenges. Bethany has worked in global health and social development across Africa and Asia and is passionate about developing strong teams that support learning and delivery across programmes, for amplified impact.
Camille Vercken
Assistant Director of Programmes
Camille is a public health professional initially trained in finance and business management, and has 15 years’ experience providing operational and strategic management support to complex multi-donor health interventions in more than 15 sub-Saharan African and Asian countries. Her interests lie in health system strengthening and health financing.
Corinne Grainger
Technical Associate
Corinne is an experienced health financing and systems strengthening consultant who is passionate about innovative, evidence-based approaches that widen access to healthcare in low-income, fragile and conflict-affected countries. She provides technical assistance to reproductive, sexual, maternal, child & adolescent health, and mental health programmes and has supported WISH programme teams in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, DRC, Madagascar and Malawi.

Eva has over 20 years’ experience in business and partnership development, strategic communications and global health and development. This includes health systems strengthening, reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health and climate adaptation and mitigation approaches. She brings this rich experience to managing the New Business and Partnerships team and overseeing the pipeline of new opportunities for Options.

James Harcourt
Managing Director
James joined Options as Managing Director in January 2022. He brings a wealth of international development, programmatic, technical and strategic leadership experience to the role, having spent a combined total of 17 years with MSI Reproductive Choices in a variety of positions. He also filled the role of England Director at The National Lottery Community Fund from 2017 to 2019.

Dr Makula is a public health professional passionate about improving public health, especially women’s health and rights. He leads the Tanzanian team, managing all programme staff and ensuring sustainability of the country programme. He has previously worked as a project’s manager, clinical quality lead, director of health systems management and projects Director at Marie Stopes and Global Peace Foundation Tanzania.

Maureen is passionate about improving maternal and newborn health. She has over 25 years of experience in Asia working towards health system strengthening for quality of care as well as reaching hard to reach populations. This includes leading a team working with communities, local NGOs and district health systems as well as applying for sector wide planning and budgeting focusing on maternal and newborn health.
Joanne Hemmings, PhD
Assistant Director of Design and Innovation
Joanne provides technical expertise across sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender, research and evaluation, social and behaviour change, and business and strategy development. She’s currently supporting programming to end female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) and to support girls’ choices to reduce unsafe abortion.
Kenneth Macharia
Country Representative, Kenya
Kenneth has over 21 years’ international experience designing programmes, developing and executing effective business strategies for revenue and market share growth in the UK and Africa. Kenneth is part of the Kenya Programme Management team, supporting the Director of Programmes with strategic planning and programme quality assurance. He drives strategic growth for Options in Kenya and the wider region.
Krishna Sharma
Deputy Team Leader, NHSSP
Krishna strongly believes in teamwork and transitional leadership. He has over 20 years’ experience in development, covering a wide range of interdisciplinary programmes. He is the Deputy Team Leader for the Nepal Health Sector Support Programme (NHSSP) and is currently working as Acting Team Leader. His experience includes leadership and management, OD/HR management, finance and administration, and partnership and sub-grant management.

Global Advocacy Director, African Led Movement
Leyla is a psychotherapist specialising in supporting survivors of sexual abuse. She is an international lecturer, and globally-recognised expert on Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and gender rights. Leyla is the Global Advocacy Director for the UKAid-funded Support to the Africa-Led Movement to End FGM/C programme. Her work with Options focuses on the importance of emotional wellbeing for activists working with survivors of FGM/C.
Linet Oyucho
WISH Regional Health Financing Advisor
Linet is a health system strengthening specialist with expertise in advocating to government for health system reforms. She leads on health financing strategies under the FCDO’s flagship WISH2ACTION program across 9 countries in Africa and Asia. This involves advocating to government on the importance of sustainable financing and budget advocacy for family planning. Linet holds a PhD in Health Policy and Systems Development.

Ms Lucia Laboso is the Kenya Country Lead for the Evidence for Action Mama Ye! programme, providing overall strategic and technical leadership to ensure it achieves increased and improved RMNCAH investments in Kenya. Lucia has over a decade’s experience in integrated project cycle management, advocacy, partnerships and institutional strengthening and holds an MA in Education, Gender and International Development from University College London.
Lyla Adwan-Kamara
Team Leader, Ghana Somubi Dwumadie
Lyla's experience spans both the corporate and development sectors, including living and working in Sierra Leone, with a focus on encouraging participation and supporting people to speak up. Prior to joining Options, Lyla was CEO at a User-Led Deaf and Disabled People's Organisation, leading policy work and advice and advocacy programmes, including hate crime prevention, for people with disabilities, including mental health disabilities.

Maya leads Options’ strategies for seeking and creating new business opportunities. The power of partnership is a driving principle for her approach to building consortia, designing programmes and developing proposals. Her expertise includes strategic planning, business and organisational development, programme design, commercial analysis and grants management. She has 20 years’ experience in global health and international development.
Michael Olawuyi
WISH Country Lead, Nigeria
Michael is a health system strengthening expert with special interest in health financing and policy. He leads the Sustainability output comprising health financing and accountability pathways for the WISH programme in Nigeria. Michael believes that Universal Health Coverage is attainable in resource-constrained countries and has provided technical assistance to national and subnational Governments in Nigeria on this subject over the last decade.

Nicole is passionate about improving women’s health and well-being, and building high performing organisations and teams. She supports Options’ delivery of high quality programmes and the development of new business to expand Options’ impact. Oko is a social development in health expert with over 22 years’ experience in designing and leading the implementation of health systems strengthening, maternal health, health financing and sexual and reproductive health strategies to strengthen citizens’ voice and hold governments to account in Africa and Asia. As our Regional Evidence and Accountability Specialist, he oversees and coordinates WISH’s quality improvement and accountability work.

Onisoa is passionate about the health and well-being of women, girls and children. She leads and represents our WISH2ACTION programme team in Madagascar. She is also a policy and planning advisor; facilitates our relationship with public and technical partners; and raises Options’ visibility. She is an advocacy expert with a strong background in reproductive health and family planning; water, hygiene and sanitation; and training/facilitation.

With over 20 years’ experience in clinical and preventive interventions in the public, private and NGO sectors, Ronke’s technical expertise includes institutional capacity building, health system strengthening and quality assurance. Sara Nam is a public health professional with close to 20 years’ experience providing technical assistance to and implementing health programmes and conducting research and programme evaluations. Sara is a qualified midwife, bringing technical expertise in the design and delivery of maternal and newborn health services, health planning and management, strengthening human resources and improving quality of care.

Sarah is a health financing specialist with over 15 years’ experience working to advance universal health coverage through health systems reforms. Sarah provides strategic programme support and helps manage a global team of technical specialists. Sarah has worked extensively in Africa, focussing on policy and planning, domestic resource mobilisation for health, results-based financing and financial risk protection.
