PEER is a specialism of
developed in collaboration with academics at Swansea University

London, UK 2009

In the first study of its kind in the UK, PEER was conducted with women from London’s Somali, Ethiopian and Sudanese communities, to investigate attitudes towards female genital mutilation (FGM) and identity, and how women from these communities perceive health services in the UK. Results will inform a new national strategy on FGM and related support services for women and girls affected by FGM.
