In January 2008, Leicester City Primary Care Trust commissioned Options UK to undertake a critical review of its chlamydia screening programme with the aim to address two key challenges, namely how to attain and maintain high-volume screening that meets national targets and to understand risk perception amongst asymptomatic sexually active men and women under the age of 25. This review highlighted a combination of activities needed to re-invigorate the local screening programmes.
