In March 2008, Options UK undertook a comprehensive sexual health needs assessment in conjunction with a review of core sexual health and related services in North East Lincolnshire. The service review critically reviewed all the main sexual health services commissioned by North East Lincolnshire Care Trust Plan (NEL CTP) at that time using pre-determined assessment criteria, which led to the development of an action plan and possible models for NEL CTP sexual health services with underlying core principles. This was aimed at guiding and tailoring the commissioning of services and service delivery. The comprehensive sexual needs assessment helped to provide the necessary objective intelligence to move NEL CTP from the preparation and development stage of sexual health services to the implementation and delivery stage in order to provide the best possible quality services for patients.
