We are seeking a Technical Advisor with strong monitoring and evaluation (M&E), quantitative and qualitative research skills to join Options' MamaYe programme. You will be a self-starter who is confident in analysing and writing about data in an accessible way for different audiences.
Responsibilities: 

The MamaYe Technical Advisor, will lead on implementing the M&E strategy for the programme.  Working closely with programme staff, you will ensure effective monitoring and reporting on progress against milestones, and the documentation and sharing of learning.  You will support the development and quality assurance of MamaYe branded evidence products, building the capacity of country based and Africa regional partners to use and present data to influence action and decision-making, and to strengthen accountability for maternal and newborn health outcomes.

In collaboration with team members, you will coordinate and oversee the implementation of a study to evaluate the extent to which the programme has been successful in contributing to the greater use of evidence for advocacy and health planning by different actors. You will work with country teams to collect and collate data, and will lead the analysis and reporting of findings to guide future programming.

The post will include regular overseas travel.

Person specification: 

You will have an MSc or PhD or equivalent qualification in public health, social statistics, epidemiology or similar field.  You will also have experience on M&E of health programmes, and are confident designing and implementing mixed method research or evaluation in health, social or behavioural science settings.  You have excellent writing skills and are able to package and communicate evidence in an engaging way for a range of audiences.  You are a strong team player, with proven ability to manage relationships across technical and non-technical partners, including working with partners in Africa or Asia.
